Why work with me?

Lori with rescue dog, Jazzy

After years of struggling, I was finally diagnosed with ADHD; but even then, I found it hard to get the help I really needed. My life felt out of my control. That’s when I decided to try working with an ADHD coach…

Coaching helped me change my story! And that was the first step in changing my life.

The second step was entering the ADHD & Life Coaching program at ADDCA (ADD Coach Academy) where I studied to become a coach myself. I learned everything I could about the ADHD brain and what it would take for my own personal transformation. I learned to work WITH my ADHD instead of against it. I came to understand that the ADHD brain is not a “deficit” brain, but an often brilliant, sometimes challenging, unique brain wiring that requires the proper environment for it to flourish. When a flower is not blooming, we nourish the soil, look to the light, so that the plant may thrive.

Like the flower that is not blooming, we are not broken. We just have to figure out what “nutrients” we need. This is where coaching comes in. Coaching is about discovering what “nutrients” you need—support, structure, strategies, or maybe a shift in mindset. You are capable and resourceful, but you may need help digging deep to find what works for you. Together, we’ll put you on a more positive and productive path and get you blooming.

Background

As a graduate of ADDCA (ADD Coach Academy), the leading ICF- and PAAC-accredited training academy for ADHD life coaches, I have over 1500 coaching hours (one-on-one), and 220 hours of training as a Professional Certified ADHD Coach.

Before becoming a coach, I worked as a communications consultant for higher education institutions, non-profits, and small businesses. Prior to that, I was a as middle-school and high-school English Language Arts teacher and literacy coach. In true ADHD fashion, I’ve had many “careers” and spent my 20s working in the entertainment industry as an actress, singer, writer, and assistant producer. I have also spent time working, volunteering, photographing, and consulting at animal sanctuaries around the country and spend my extra time rescuing and caring for displaced and abused animals. My interests include photography, writing, reading, film, bird watching, gardening, native plants, and cooking healthy plant-based meals.

I welcome adults of all ages, genders, races, cultural backgrounds, and sexual orientations. I also coach college students and older teens in their final years of high school who may need to improve executive functioning and sharpen their skills to enter college or the workforce. (See a more detailed list of who I coach here.)
